Draft CEO Endorsement Request Document
After following the processes laid out in Detailed Design, The Project Development Team can begin to draft corresponding sections of the CEO Endorsement Request Document. Please remember this is an iterative process, and these sections will be revised multiple times based on (1) feedback from the project manager, and (2) feedback from stakeholder engagement and key partners (e.g., executing partners, government, staff leading child projects within the same program).
General Project Information - Project Summary and Project Description Overview
Please see attached guidance for writing the project summary and project description overview. Project summary and project description overview largely link to technical design, and includes:
- Background and context
- Environmental problem, threats, and root causes
- Barriers
- Baseline analysis and gaps
- Coordination with GEF and non-GEF interventions
Project description - Theory of change
The theory of change should provide an “explicit account of how and why the proposed interventions would achieve their intended outcomes and goal, based on outlining a set of key causal pathways arising from the activities and outputs of the interventions and the assumptions underlying these causal connections”.
Project Strategies and Expected Results (GEF Project Components)
Please see attached guidance for Defining your activities, Theory of Change, and Indicative Project Description Summary (see technical design step), as well as selecting the project sites, are necessary for informing these two sections.

High-level Work Schedule
The purpose of the high-level workplan or work schedule (attached) is to provide an estimated timeline for project delivery that the Project Management Unit can refer to during implementation. The High level workplan or work schedule also acts as a reference point for the budget projections for each year. Fill in the workplan utilizing the activities under each output of the project and Use an “X” to indicate when a deliverable should be completed and use shading to indicate when activities will take place.
Taxonomy Worksheet
The taxonomy worksheet should be completed for every WWF GEF Project. The table provided in the attachments below should be filled in by checking off the boxes for the taxonomic information related to this project. Select the most relevant keywords/topics/themes that best describe this project.
